De melding is dan: "Can not read update from disk"

What this update does is reformat your DVD drive to support the new upcoming XDG3 game disc
format, so if you had a flashed console it will now be reset to stock firmware again. However,
before you do the update and you know how to flash your console, or know someone that can,
revert to the stock firmware BEFORE updating to the latest dashboard.
Microsoft will possibly be able to detect and flag your console and could be banned later from LIVE.

What happens if you have already updated to the latest dashboard and want to play you backup games again?
Well firstly you will need to get your Xbox 360 drive flashed again.
Currently to date of this post, LT+ 1.9 is currently in testing by c4eva. This should be released soon…

Since the release of the Xbox 360, Microsoft has used a version of their game disc called Xbox Game Disc 2.0.
This is why when you rip a disc, the filename is called something like XGD2DVD.
Part of the Xbox Game Disc 2 spec includes a set of anti piracy protections called Anti Piracy 2.0, or AP2.0.
To combat the checks and measures included in Anti Piracy 2.0,
the Xbox scene has developed a set of countermeasures such as the security sectors, or SS.
The scene's countermeasures also have a set of specs of their own. Currently there are two specs in wide usage,
version 1 and version 2. It is currently recommended that all backups have the version 2 spec of security sectors, or SSv2.

With this new leaked version, certain backups of new games such as Fable 3 and The Sims 3 do not work.

So far, the community has only been able to gather that with this newest version of the dashboard, Microsoft is employing AP2.5.
AP2.5 is an updated spec of the original Anti Piracy 2.0.

Q: Why do I need LT+?

AP25 does not let you play certain backup games without updating your 360 to the latest dashboard(12611).
This new dashboard can then use AP25 to perform a number of new checks which stops AP25 games from booting
and will flag your Xbox 360 for a ban on the next ban wave.
If you update your dashboard and flash LT+ you can then use patched AP25 games and
boot no problems and use XBL with no ban flag.

Q: Which drives does the LT+ flash work on?
Benq, Liteon (74850, 84850 v1 & v2, 94850)

Q: What about the Hitachi or Samsung drive?
Maybe - There is no AP25 on older Hitachi Drives (46/47/58/59) but there may be AP25 checks on the newer Hitachi drives (78/79).
Samsung is reported not to have AP25 BUT some users have had issues booting AP25 games
(we have found that some consoles have been repaired / refurbed with a Samsung drive by MS Official
repair centers when the console was originally a Liteon - this could be causing issues -
to those guys we suggest trying a Liteon drive - it may solve your problems - do this at your own risk we
are simply giving the best advice possible) -
so LT+ for these drives may be looked at after the Slim is done.

Q: Do I update straight to LT+ or do I need to change my fw version first?
You can update to LT+ straight away from any firmware version.

Q: Do I need to update to LT+ before updating to the new Dashboard ?
No, you can update to the new dashboard at anytime - just don't put a backup of an AP25 game
unless you have LT+ firmware flashed to your drive as you will be flagged for a ban.

Q: What happens if I play on Xbox Live with LT+? Will I get banned?
LT+ is designed to protect you, HOWEVER there is always a chance of getting banned.
Microsoft may find a way to see that you’re playing backup games on your 360, but LT+ is solid and no one has
been banned since the original LT firmware.

Q: How can I patch and burn my AP25 games ?
Simply use ABGX360 v1.05 to patch your ISO then burn with IMGBURN. Simple.

Q: How do I know if a game has AP25?
ABGX 1.04 will tell you There is one game that does not show as having AP25 and that is Fable III
- but it DOES have it so much be patched.

Q: I have a different country version of a region free but the AP25 patch won't work.
You have to use the same release as the patch is made for - this is why the group name is attached to the game.
The XEX CRC's need to match. if it is region free it will work for you so just get that release.
If you have a game like Fable III Spanish version then a separate AP25 patch is required and you would have
to wait and see if that was ever released. At time of writing there is no public method on creating your own AP25 data for patches.

Q: People are telling me to use PPF-O-Matic v3 to patch games. Why aren't you?
That was the first method released. ABGX360 1.04 now does it all for you if there is a patch available for your release.
It does not do any harm to use PPF-O-MATIC method first - in fact it is a good way to check in ABGX if you have patched correctly.

Q: Can I patch an AP25 game to work on NON-LT+ fw?
No. Do not ever put an AP25 backup game in a DVD drive UNLESS it has LT+ flashed to the DVD.

Testing LT+ Firmware Video

The Xecuter and Jungle teams are now in the heavy testing stages of C4E’s upcoming LT+ firmware and
things are going VERY well. Here is a quick video we made booting Need For Speed Hot Pursuit on a box
with the new dash (2.0.12611) and of course LT+ flashed to the drive.

FYI so far we have tested on live : NFS Hot Pursuit, Assassins Creed Brotherhood and Fable III.
All safe so far

Fall 2010 Update Coming Monday Nov 1st
>> The date is now official! The new Kinect/Fall2010 Update is coming tomorrow (Monday Nov 1st).
Microsoft announced this via e-mail []:

On November 1, 2010, there will be a mandatory service update to Xbox LIVE. This update will both add
new features to your service and also enhance the interface, navigation, and responsiveness of Xbox

Q: Is there anything I need to do to start the update?
A: Beginning on November 1, 2010, you will receive a notification that an update to Xbox LIVE is available
as soon as you start your Xbox 360 console. Use your controller to accept the update according to the
on-screen instructions.

Q: What if I decline the service update?
A: If you decline the update, you will not be able to connect to Xbox LIVE until the update is accepted. You
will still be able to use all of the offline features of your Xbox 360 console. Xbox LIVE features will be
unavailable until the update is complete.

X-S Note: With the confirmation from C4E that the latest beta fall2010 dashboard has new AP2.5 checks
and SSv3 with new games
, we 'suggest' anyone with a modified FW stay away from the update and these
new games (Fable3, ...) for now if you don't want to be part of the 'MS November 2010 BanHammer' ;)
JTAG 360s (do I need to remind this?) should of course also not update, it will break the JTAG/SMC hack
forever. You will have to wait for a new rebooter (freeBOOT/XBReboot).

A n00b's guide to everything Wave4

What IS "Wave 4"?

A regular, retail Xbox 360 disk is split into several sections or "partitions". One of these partitions is known as the "video partition". Before March 2009, this partition simply contained a video that would play if you inserted the disk into a regular DVD player, the video would basically tell you that you were an idiot and need to put it into an Xbox 360 to play it.

Sinds 15-5-2009 is installeren wij deze nieuwe 1.6 firmware versie
waarmee alle nieuwe spellen zonder problemen te spelen zijn!

As some of you know by now, Microsoft has started including the
NXE (Fall '08 Dashboard Update) on new game discs.
They added this update into the video partition on the disc,
which of course makes the partition larger than it always has been on older games.
Previously there were 2 known good sizes for the video partition,
they were known as "wave1" and "wave2".

One of the security features in all iXtreme firmware from 1.0 to the current version 1.5 is a
check on the size of the video partition to make sure it matches either wave1 or wave2.
The firmware will not boot any game that does not match wave1 or wave2,
this is done to prevent booting bad backups and getting banned on Live.

Since these new games have a larger video partition that does not match either wave,
they do not boot. They are calling these new games with the larger video partition
"wave3" and our hacked firmware will need to be updated to accept this new
size as a good value. c4eva has already started working on this and the
new firmware will be released for all drives shortly.

This new firmware will be version 1.51 and will simply add support for the new video partition
size so that backups of new games will boot. All drives will need to be updated to 1.51 in
order to play backups of new games! c4eva has also stated that he plans on releasing
firmware with 0800 mode (for ripping original games) for every drive in the near future.
This means that all 360 drives, including Hitachi, will then be able to be used to rip
original 360 game discs. This will be a feature of iXtreme version 1.6 which will come after 1.51.

(v1.4) Disc jitter fix

Everyone is wondering why people were getting banned a few weeks back.
Here is a short summary of our speculation:

There are specific timers within the challenge/response protocol that may be checked
by MS to determine as criteria for banning. We believe they are measuring one or more
to find discrepancies.
While a lot of this is speculation, and a lot of data is inaccurate as far as replication
due to different mechanics, there may be specific timers that can be easily read.
One that we are focusing on has to do with the degree's of disc rotation,
which will generate a sum (0,90,180,270) and embed that data within the
Security Sector file. Now, we recently have noticed a change within games in
regards to that Challenge/Response timer.

We recently found out that new games ripped with kreon drives will give back a degree,
that in combination with ixtreme jitter, will produce a 360 degree value.
This would be a unacceptable range (should only be 0-359).
This is a detectable and possibly a criteria for the recent ban waves.
Also, this would explain why some users got banned playing the same games that
others played, and did not get banned.
The point of jitter is to randomly give back proper values.
With that in mind, a random jitter value from a kreon drive,
with a random jitter from a ixtreme drive will rarely give back a 360 degree value.
This new ixtreme will wrap that value to ensure that no 360 degree value can be submitted.

Now, a note of recommendation, due to statistical findings.
We have spent days ripping *thousands* of security sector's with various drive/software
combinations and have come to the following:

The most accurate/valid SS replication is done with a samsung
drive using Schtrom 360 xtract or XBC.
So far, we have seen only a very small percentage of 6701 rips in comparison to kreon.
Now, given that, i think it is important to inform that this value was previously normal
with older games. It may or may not be normal with *every* new game,
but with some so far.

So, if you are planning on backing up your purchased games,
please try to use samsung with schtrom 360 xtract or XBC for the most reliable
replica possible!!!
This *could* mean the difference from being banned on xbox live, or not.

Now, as always, remember that you are modifying your console *at your own risk*.
If you make a backup of your game and play it on xbox live, you will always run a risk
of getting your console banned.

This release also comes with firmtool 1.2, here is the changelog:
- Added support for Samsung ms19
- Added prompt for Samsung firmware to copy version strings.
This will allow for those who want their ms25,ms21,or ms19 to report as a ms28.
- Added Xtreme/iXtreme version detection in the hacked source
- Added extra check of BenQ key range for odd BenQ firmware revisions
- Rewrote firmware and version detection. Works properly with all spoofed firmware.
- Added spoofed firmware detection

These features are just some of the new enhancements Xbox 360 owners can expect as part of
the Fall Dashboard Update.
On December 4th a list of all the new features and improvements will be posted at:
The Xbox 360 supports DivX and XviD as of today, which may make some of you with big file
collections (like us) as giddy as a kid in store with puppies made of candy.

We threw our entire collection of movies, TV shows and random clips at it and found that the 360
can play back pretty much anything. Here are some notes.

You can play files off of a CD/DVD.
This feature wasn't listed on the Xbox Team's website as one of the supported locations for
playing back content, but this is fantastic for homes that have wireless networks (or no network at all).
In fact, reading off a disc is probably the best way to ensure your movie won't cut out in the middle
due to network congestion (unlikely) or someone turning off the computer accidentally (fairly likely).

It supports almost all files.
It played back all TV shows we threw at it, including My Name is Earl, 30 Rock,
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Battlestar Galactica, and The Venture Bros..
Most of these, and most TV downloaded TV shows, are encoded in XviD format.
As for DivX, that's supported back to version 5.0.

AC3 Audio is supported.
Nice! AC3 support was added in the Spring Update,
but it's nice to see it working with DivX/XviD. 5.1 is supported!

It's not entirely perfect. It's 90% of the way there, improved handling of different video dimensions,
better playback controls and Windows Media Center Extender support will make this the
perfect DivX/Xvid implementation.
Eindelijk is deze dvd drive nu om te bouwen.

De BenQ dvd drive zit meestal in de Xbox Elite en de Xbox Arcade.
